We select candidates with a strong background in business to business sales, and the most important qualities that we look for in a new recruit are the ability to empathise with people, and, therefore, understand clients' and candidates' needs. Previous recruitment experience is highly regarded but not essential.
The initial training process consists of a combination of several days "classroom" training covering topics such as the recruitment life cycle and the technical development life cycle. Thereafter training is conducted at the desk, and through ongoing training courses. Courses may be targetted to meet individual needs, or provided to larger groups to help our consultants develop continually.
Abraxas takes sales people and gives the right training to develop quality recruitment consultants. Our focus is on developing rounded, professional consultants who have strong sales ability combined with excellent understanding of the recruitment and IT marketplaces.
In addition to learning the full 'Recruitment Life Cycle', each trainee learns how to sell other Abraxas service lines; how to build and develop relationships with key clients; questioning techniques and negotiation skills; and gains a full understanding of our fee structure.
Every consultant has a weekly meeting with their Team Leader, a monthly goal setting meeting, two annual reviews, and the opportunity to increase their basic pay through sales success.
Abraxas has a policy of promoting internally, and offers additional training in Team Leading, Management and Motivation; futhermore we have a Senior Recruiter programme covering Account Management, Presentation and Negotiation skills.

Senior Recruitment Consultants
If you are an experienced recruiter with experience opening new accounts and building a successful desk in a specialist sector - ideally IT - then Abraxas is the right place for you to further your career. A competitive base and an uncapped commission scheme mean that your earning potential is high; and our supportive, rather than micro-managed, environment means that you will be able to use your expertise to build your business and contribute to the team.

Trainee Recruitment Consultants
Within 12 months you could be a professional IT recruiter managing your own accounts. You will shape careers and provide new talent and skills for your clients. Average first year earnings for trainee recruiters are around £40,000 (basic/commission/bonus). Commission is unlimted. We need graduate calibre trainees, with pro-active telephone sales experience, determination, tenacity and a confident, positive manner.
Resourcers
We are also looking for resourcers to work with our senior consultants sourcing and telephone interviewing candidates. Graduate calibre, you will have an articulate and persuasive telephone manner. With the right attitude, bags of initiative and perseverance, you could be a consultant within 1 year.
